After seeing the documentary , "AfroLatinos: The Untold History" by Renzo Devia at the Pan African Film Festival in 2016, Amy Flowers- Rodriguez was left with many questions; questions about her family, their journey, her heritage and culture. The vision for AfroLatinaStandUp was birthed in 2018 from a quest for knowledge.It's a known fact that history is important and plays a vital role in our lives and development. You don't know where you're going if you don't know where you came from. Unfortunately Afrolatin history was never taught in traditional history books. It was omitted to cover the journey , struggle and harsh realities faced by our ancestors. Rather it was passed down by oral tradition from generation to generation, preserved by the memories of our ancestors. In this day of modern advancement it is our responsibility to educate the world and coming generations of our rich history and culture. Join us on this journey as we learn grow and preserve the culture together.
